Surface Pro 6 don’t play .mov files
I have just got a new Surface Pro 6 and try to load some of my personal MOV video onto it. The problem is that neither the native video app nor the PressPlay app are playing any of my .mov files. No problem with mp4s; these play fine. Is this just a limitation of Windows RT or a problem particular to my device?
Why Surface Pro 6 not play MOV files?
To answer this problem, we should figure out what digital file formats can be viewed on Surface Pro 6. After searching for Surface Pro supported file formats, we see that you can view the following video and audio file formats on Surface Pro 6.
|Container or File Formats||File Extension||Codec|
H.264(Baseprofile, Mainprofile, Highprofile)
H.263 H.264 (Baseprofile, Mainprofile, Highprofile)
MPEG-4 Part2 SP and ASP
|ASF||.asf||VC-1 WMV 9|
MPEG-4 Part2 SP and ASP
Audio formats: .mp3, .aac, .flac, .m4a, .wav, .wma, .ac3, .3gp, .3g2, .amr
