Final Cut Pro X:Importing Sony XAVC/XDCAM Media with Plug-in or Conversion

To be able to import Sony XAVC, XDCAM, XDCAM HD, and XDCAM EX media into Final Cut Pro X, you’ll need to download and install the XAVC/XDCAM Plug-in for Apple (PDZK-LT2) provided by Sony, which provides support for XAVC and XDCAM / XDCAM EX files shot on Sony SxS card, allowing viewing and editing capability in Final Cut Pro X.

Version 1.2 of this plug-in requires: Mac OS X 10.9; Final Cut Pro 10.1 or later; For all other supported OS, please use version 1.1.

Version 1.1 of this plug-in requires: Final Cut Pro 10.0.8 or higher for XAVC format;Final Cut Pro 10.0.6 or higher for XDCAM / XDCAM EX format

This plug-in supports SxS Card but not Professional Disc. XDCAM Professional Disc users can use Content Browser software to ingest material into Final Cut Pro X.

“After installing this plugin every “share” option (apart from sharing to ‘Master file’) made FCP X crash. Sometimes I got the “Quicktime error 0″ or “Quicktime error -50″ message. Anyone else experiencing these problems after installing the Sony XAVC/XDCAM plugin (PDZK-LT2)?”

Import Sony XAVC/XDCAM Media to FCP X for Editing

 

Step 1: Add Sony XAVC/XDCAM Media video files.


Launch the program on your computer, add Sony XAVC/XDCAM Media video files to the program by clicking the “Add Video” or “Add folder” button.



Step 2: Choose output file format.

From “Format” drop-down option, choose FCP best editing codec by selecting “Final Cut Pro” > “Apple ProRes 422(*.mov).”



Step 3: Start the conversion process.

Hit right-bottom “Convert” button to start Sony XAVC/XDCAM Media to FCP Apple Intermediate Codec conversion process.

When the conversion is completed, launch FCP on Mac to import Sony XAVC/XDCAM Media to FCP for editing.
